The OvertureSD live production switcher is designed to meet the needs of any digital or analog production system. It is the ideal solution for any analog studio making the transition to digital. The flexible OvertureSD input and output modules allow for a custom mix of analog and digital inputs and outputs. OvertureSD internally converts from analog to digital and digital to analog and offers internal synchronization. Conventional SDI switchers require conversion and synchronization to be carried out externally. This can have a significant impact on the overall system design including increased cabling, increased power consumption and increased equipment costs. OvertureSD simplifies installation with its built in conversion and synchronization options.
The Overture1 Video Production System is fast to setup and intuitive to operate. Its sleek ergonomic design and comprehensive range of production tools give you creative power at your fingertips. This powerful production system will allow you to produce high quality programming and incorporate stunning effects. Overture1 is available with either of our award winning OvertureSD or OvertureMD video production switchers, so whatever your production needs – now or in the future – the Echolab Overture1 will ensure they are met.
Overture1 offers intuitive next-transition workflow with a variety of transition options-including the unique Stinger™ transition. Next-transition workflow makes it easy to manage layers and backgrounds that are “on air” or “in transition”. Illuminated buttons indicate current “on air” layers and allow instant changes.
Overture1 sets a new standard on the number and type of transitions available in the transition block. In addition to the standard Cut/Mix/Wipe functions found in traditional switchers, Overture1 features Dip, DVE and Stinger™ transitions. The Dip transition lets you easily mix through any intermediate source, for example dip through white or dip through the station logo, while the DVE transition extends your creative freedom by providing powerful 2D (SD Systems) and 3D (MD Systems) transitions including graphic wipes and page turns.
The unique Stinger™ transition makes it easy to use animated transitions. With the push of a single button, you can trigger an external animation sequence in conjunction with a perfectly timed transition effect, traditionally only performed by the most experienced operators. Stinger™ effects use a unique keyer that has been designed into the transition block, leaving all of the upstream and downstream keyers available for compositing your output.
Overture1 comes standard with the unique new SuperSource™ crosspoint. The SuperSource™ is a pre-composited input that allows you to build a custom layout using up to 4 DVE’s and a graphic (over or under), and assign that layered composition to a crosspoint button. The SuperSource™ includes five of its own keyers leaving upstream and downstream keyers available for adding lower thirds, tickers and other elements
The Overture1 has a total of 12 internal keyers:
• 2 Traditional downstream keyers
• 4 M/E keyers (Linear + Chroma)
• Stinger™ includes 1 transition Keyer
• SuperSource including 5 layers of Key
Traditional downstream keyers are accessible from the dedicated DSK block and allow the creation of flawless keys thanks to Perfect Edge™ Technology. A DSK “Tie/Preview” button enables you to configure the key, tie it, and take it to air with the next transition or immediately to air using the cut and auto buttons in the DSK block. There are 4 full featured upstream keyers with Perfect Edge™ Technology. Configured using the system control block, the keyers let you add Linear Keys, Shaped Keys, Chroma Keys, and Pattern keys. A keyer, built into the transition block is used for creating unique transitions such as the graphic wipe, and Stinger™. The special SuperSource™ crosspoint keyers are used to build a custom layout available through a crosspoint button, which can consist of up to 6 sources using 5 keyers.
Overture1 makes setting rates, adjusting parameters and controlling 3rd party devices quick, intuitive, and easy to use. Smart buttons display context sensitive options, such as displaying pictures of the available wipe patterns, auxiliary output assignments, DVE moves, and keyer setup.
Overture1 panel can be customized for truly intuitive operation. 4 character source mnemonics are standard on every panel. Auxiliary output buttons can be labeled with custom text or bitmaps. Macro buttons can also be graphically labeled. Experts can build sophisticated macros and assign them to custom live event macro buttons for easy operation by inexperienced staff.
The OvertureSD digital input module supports 4 SDI inputs. The digital module has been optimized for robust SDI connectivity. SDI equalizers and re-clockers provide reliable reception of all SMPTE 259M SDI signals. Processing is done at full 10-bit [4:2:2] resolution ensuring that quality is maintained thought the system.
The OvertureSD analog input module supports 4 analog inputs. The high quality analog module features a 5-line comb filter decoder and supports all standard analog formats; composite, Y/C, component, and RGB. All processing is done at full 10-bit [4:2:2] resolution ensuring that quality is maintained thought the system.
The OvertureSD SuperBox input module provides 4 picture in picture boxes that are seamlessly integrated into SuperSource. With SuperBox™, you can put up to four boxes on-screen and still have access to your DVE moves and wipes. For example you can transition your four-box interview with the popular graphic wipe. Plus, SuperBox™ uses Intelligent Masking, the ability to retain your mask dimensions while moving the section of the input video that’s being viewed, so that you can easily nudge the contents of a box without having to redo your mask.
The OvertureSD output modules support simultaneous SDI and analog output. All standard analog formats are supported; composite, Y/C, component, and RGB. 12-bit DAC’s provide a high quality analog signal that can be sent to analog devices with confidence.
The OvertureSD 16x16 chassis supports 4 input modules and 2 output modules. Any combination of input modules can be configured for a fully analog, fully digital or mixed format system. The 1st output module, standard in most configurations, supports outputs 1-4 which provide simultaneous analog and digital in all available formats. The 2nd optional output module adds outputs 5-8 which provide simultaneous composite and SDI output. Outputs 9-16, standard on every system, are hardwired into the chassis and only provide SDI output.
Typical production systems can have a number of un-timed feeds such as satellite, remote studios or microwave links. These feeds must be synchronized before they can be fed to the production switcher. The Echolab Overture Series of switchers offer internal frame synchronizers that can be purchased for each of the available inputs. The synchronizers can be dynamically assigned to any input. Internal frame synchronizers are advantageous as they reduce cabling, reduce power consumption, save valuable rack space and allow for fewer points of failure.
Frame buffers are valuable in any production environment. For certain applications a few frame buffers can replace a dedicated clip/still store. Echolab’s internal frame buffers offer tremendous flexibility with an easy to use workflow. Internal frame buffers simplify installation, reduce power consumption and save valuable rack space. The frame buffers can be dynamically assigned to any input. This flexibility lets you configure the switcher to your workflow. A still can be captured from any input and stored into the floating frame buffer.
The OvertureSD comes standard with 2 internal frame buffers that can be configured for full screen plus alpha or 2 full screen images. These frame buffers can be loaded dynamically with images from the switcher’s compact flash memory or over the network with a computer running the optional Conductor software.
The Overture SD 16x16 Chassis has 16 auxiliary outputs. OvertureSD has the most flexible auxiliary outputs of any switcher in its class, the outputs can be dynamically assigned to show any signal from the switcher including all inputs, program, preview, M/E outputs, frame buffers, and clean feeds. There is no limit on the assignment capability of the auxiliary outputs. For example, clean feed can be duplicated on every auxiliary output if needed.
