Myanmar Background
Myanmar is a country of 60 million people, 89% of which are Buddhist. Christians comprise only 4% of the population and are mostly confined to 1 of Myanmar's 14 states (Chin State). That means there are over 50,000,000 people in Myanmar who don't know the love of the Father or the good news of Jesus Christ.
Myanmar's needs are not confined to the spiritual dimension alone. The country has countless numbers of orphans and an untold amount of people who lack basic necessities such as food and housing. In Yangon alone (the financial capital of the country and the location of MEBC) there are an estimated 4,000+ orphans and 30,000+ people living in slum villages of bamboo shacks. These people lack access to clean water, adequate food, education, and basic medical services. Most are laborers who survive on meager daily incomes of US$2.50 or less, while some have no regular income at all. They struggle just to provide food each day; their hand-to-mouth existence renders them unable to buy or rent a residence. Thus, they end up squatting as illegal tenants who settle on any free space they can find.

To transform communities throughout Myanmar by the restorative power of the Gospel.
Mission:
To plant churches throughout Myanmar that will preach the love of Christ through both word and deed. To this end we equip Christians to be biblically literate and Holy Spirit filled church planters and pastors. Our training consists of of prayer, personal discipleship, and service to the poor in addition to classroom instruction and practical church ministry.
Our Ministries
The School
The Bible College is at the heart of
MEBC's mission. Students receive a broad educational curriculum that includes biblical
studies, theology, church history, preaching, and English.
The Slum Ministry
Situated on the outskirts of Yangon, the Hlaingtha Yar township slum is a village of bamboo shacks built on stilts over waste-water. During the rainy season months, this water can rise above the floor level in many of the shacks.
The Orphan Ministry
MEBC currently cares for 10 children aged 7-14. These children come from families with missing parents or with parents who are too poor to care for them. They come from all across Myanmar; all are from Buddhist backgrounds.
Statement of Faith:
We believe that God is one being who exists eternally as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnate second person of the Godhead, conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary, fully human and fully divine in one person. He died, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven, from whence he will return bodily and in glory.
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit who is the third person in the Trinity.
We believe that all scripture is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16).
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into temptation and now falls short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). Man is not able to save himself and thus is in need of salvation from God.
We believe that man is saved by God through faith in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:5-9, Titus 3:5).
We believe that Jesus Christ will return at the end of the ages to judge evil and inaugurate his eternal kingdom.
Meet our team
Joshua Park
President
Dr. Joshua Hungsoo Park serves as the coordinator for Korean ministry as well as the academic advisor, spiritual mentor and pastoral counselor to Korean students. Prior to his role at Gordon-Conwell, Dr. Park taught biblical studies and theology for more than five years; pastored the campus church at Seoul National University for eight years, where he earned a B.A. and M.A.; and co-founded Bible Korea Movement. He holds an M.A. in Old Testament (Gordon-Conwell), an M.Div. degree (Gordon-Conwell), a Th.M. (Gordon-Conwell) and a D.Min. (Regent University).
Nun Hmung
Principal
Nun Hmung serves as the vice-president and principal of MEBC. Prior to starting MEBC, Nun served as an assistant pastor and as an evangelist. He holds a B.Th from Mark Buntain Bible College in India, an M.A.Th. from Logos Evangel Institute of Theology and Mission in Myanmar, and an M.A. in Christian Leadership from Gordon-Conwell-Theological Seminary in the USA. He has been happily married to Cherry Min for 24 years, and has two children: Joseph, 20, and Phoebe, 3.
Hmun Uk
Dean of academics
Hmun Uk is the Dean of Academics at MEBC, a role he also held previously at Judson International Seminary and at Myanmar Christian Theological School. He has a B.Th and M.Div. from Myanmar Evangelical Graduate School of Theology, a Th.M from Chongshin International Graduate School in the Philippines, and a D.Min from Reaching the World Bible College in Myanmar. Hmun has three children: Van Lian, 24, Chin Chin, 22, and Robert, 20.
Ye Sou
Pastor of house churches
Ye Soe is the supervising pastor of MEBC outreach and house church ministries. He received a B.Th from Reformed Bible Institute in Myanmar and a M.Div. from Judson International Seminary in Myanmar. He is married to Shwe Kyin
Joe Yu
North American Liaison
Joe Yu is a missionary with Ripe For Harvest and serves as the North American Liaison for MEBC. Joe travels frequently to Myanmar to help teach courses at the school and preach at various locations around the country, as well as give updates to the North American Board of Advisors concerning operations for the ministry. He holds a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Lancaster Bible College and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Our Immediate Needs
